Thanks Guys. This was just something i had been discussing with my Husband on the weekend.

See as the lupos are being Made in Brazil Why don't they import a few up here as a test to see how they sell.

Mostly becuase every vehicle on the road has to go through massive crash testing to be deemed safe to drive on the road. The road conditions here vary way more here then say in Brazil (although I sure our roads maybe better maintained). Crash testing cost lots of $$ so do meaning all the regulation guidelines etc (insurance rates etc etc). All in all if a company doesn't think they will sell enough cars they won't even bother (example the R32).
Edit: Ohh I forgot emissions testing too.

Sorry to be Naive but I have no idea what an R32 is?

I did realize there was factors like this to consider. I just brought this topic up as a debate and I wanted to see what everyone thought of it.

The R32 is a GTI with a 3.2L engine that is available everywhere except Canada. Its pretty much the VW "sports" car that competes with race-inspired cars like the Mitsubishi Evo or Subaru WRX etc.

uhhhh what kris said.. 3.2L vr6 engine, all wheel drive, suped up everything.. has a body kit.. doesn't look like a golf to me
