I use northland because its close to where I live. I've had a few issues with them in the past which they rectified and kept me happy. I'll continue to use them and will this week when i go in for an oil change.

      Seems like a loaded question.....

In the past though I have purchased 3 cars from SCFC and had them all serviced there. I do also like the sales and business staff at 5th too.

I had a good experience with the sales staff at 5th ave but as for service 5th ave sucked. Very happy with everything from SCFC and will always have my service done there now

Re: If you had to choose a dealer.

I've been pretty happy with the folks at Fifth Ave.
Some service issues a while back but their new manager seems pretty good. Last warranty repair was done fast with me just dropping the car off after hours.

Not a fan of Northland. "What is it going to take to get you into a new Jetta today?" is not what I consider a good pitch - Particularly when Nox wanted a Golf and said, "I want a Golf, not a Jetta."

I've never really dealt with SCFC.

I personally like SCFC the best. I bought my car from Northland, and it only took me until my first service appointment to realize they blow! I have never really dealt with 5th other than buying my phatbox from them, so I can't comment on their service. South Center has always been good to me (with the exception of one time....I think Dave remember's that one ), so they will contiue to get my business.

For sales, I only dealt with NL and 5th - NL ended up giving the lower price, so bought there.

5th Ave jerked me around trying to make service appointments, so I said screw em. Though for parts they are better than NL by a long shot. NL has had a few screwups but overall I'm pretty happy with them. I think it depends on the SA+tech, not the dealership.

Never been down south when something broke, so all I can rate SFC on is an airfilter purchase.

Northland - I worked there for 3 years, and get treated well by pretty much everyone there. That said, I always go through Rob or Paul for SA, and Blake is the only tech who works on my ride. If for some reason I needed some work done and Blake was on vacation or something I would probably go see a certain club member; (this thread is not in the members section)

Yea, Northland for me as well... I've already posted the reasons why under the "ignorance is bliss?" thread..

Well I've dealth with 5th ave for pretty much everything and have always liked the service there. SCFC I don't like the sales staff at all, most of them wouldn't even give me the time of day when I'm there.

I think it comes down to the fact that through me the salesman has sold 5 cars and we have a good relationship so I can trust them to treat me right, so far anyways.

Re: If you had to choose a dealer.

I usually go to 5th Ave. because they gave me a steal of a deal on my car. I havent really had any issues with their service department until I tried to get my wheel alignment done there and they basically told me to go somewhere else because it was lowered and on 18s. I worry about anyone who bought a 337, 25th Ann, or GLI from them, as they will not be able to get their wheel alignments done there either.

I ended up getting my wheel alignment at NL, but had to request one tech in particular, as the service manager said it couldn't be done. Surprisingly the tech (George) was really good. He even called me to warn me there might be some small scratches on my rims from the alignment rack if he did the work. I told him to go ahead, and I couldn't find the slightest scratch when I came to pick up the car.

I guess I've just been lucky with 5th and NL. I will say it's more convenient getting downton from NL than from 5th's new location.

SCFC... cuz, well... I bought my ride there.

It's not like I've had 4 star service there or anything... but, I just don't think that moving to a different VW would be that different. Besides... it gives me an excuse to poke around the lot every 8,000 kms and check out the latest in the Porsche stables.

not that there's anything wrong with going to a dealership for service, but is there any non-dealer garages that people trust in Calgary?

The shop I go to (edit: in ottawa) deals exclusively with VAG cars, from mk1 through to mk4, including Audi's as well. Their labour rates are great, and I never leave feeling boned (I always felt jipped at dealership visits). Nothing like this in c-town?
