        FK'd:

I have the FK 35/40 and it doesn't go that low as the pics in that thread (I think he has bags of cement in the trunk or something). The rear gap on mine is 1 inch and a bit more than the front.

Weitec was causing your tires to rub on your fenders right Peter? But you were pretty low...

I went to Tunerworks today just to see what they had to say about suspension. I am basically sold on the F/K and will be making an install appointment this week (if I can find some way to go without my car for a day). Tunerworks said it would be "about $640 plus about $200 install". Does this compare with C1?

I got H&R race springs with ABD front sway bar for $600CDN and C1 is asking about 4 hour labour @$65/hr. so about $260 bucks. What do you guys thing about the H&R springs anyway?

The Hi-Tech kit is around 1.4 inches. The rear is higher than the front tho - make sure you want that.

Install was more than 8 hours - they have to drop everything (tho I had a rear bar done).

                      Lemme check bills.....:

C1 charged me 1357 for the Hi-Tech kit, an ABD rear sway and installation for both with a 10% discount on the parts. So labor was about 400 bucks. So say 300 or so was for the susp, 100 for the rear bar.

Alignment was 72.97 from Fountain Tire.

If you can get it installed for 200 bucks that's a good deal - but find out how well they know MK4s...

My view on the H&R 50mm drop/ race-spring. Being drove once on the Golf paired with Bilstein setup. It is too soft for the height and too uncomfortable for the ride.

I just wanted to add that I am having my FK's installed this Thursday. I took some pics with a measuring tape of the 'before' look and I'll take some pics afterwards. I am paying $200 to have them installed at a local garage called QMRmotorsports. The guy I spoke with suggested that I don't need an alignment because the guy doing the install is very good at what he does. But he didn say that if I feel somethings off, then to come back and I can get the alignment done there for a good price.

I went to Tunerworks just cause I was in the area and had never been there before... so I figured I would check the place out. I am not sure if I am buying anything from them, I would rather go C1 because they have treated me AWESOME so far. I didn't mean to give the impression that I was comitted to buying at TW or anything!

I was not crazy on the F/K because I don't really like the raked look, and was hoping TW would carry something else... but the guy there said that any other shock/spring combo is going to be more than $1100. I might as well just get coilovers for that much. I only want the small drop - around 30-40mm. If anyone else knows where I can get a 40mm spring/shock combo in town for less, lemme know... I was thinking I would spend one or two hundred more than the FK for something flatter.

Anyhow after leaving TW I figured I would probably go with the FK kit from C1 just because its all I can find for a decent price here in Calgary. However, Khyron has indicated that his install cost was pretty high for him, and that he really noticed the rake... this is kind of making me wary...

Edit: Just noticed Khyron also go a rear sway - that probably ran about $350-$400 for parts and installation? I don't need this, already got one.

Try and get your hands on a 337 suspension not a huge drop but still a good balance of comfort and handling.
