  • New Paint Job\Custom Body Work

As I mentioned before, I got hail damage, according to the body shops I went to, I have about 130 dents. The paintless place wouldn't do it unless I sign a form saying they will do their best, and won't guarantee the results, so I don't really want to go there, and they wouldn't be able to get me in until the may/june of next year thing, talk about waiting times.

So I went around to a few body shops, and was quoted around 6000, because they will have to remove all the dents, and then respray the entire car. I think now would be a prime opportunity to get any custom body work done, since the respray will already be paid for by the insurance company.

What would you guys reccomend, any 2 tone or body work would only be labour costs really.

The only thing is, I will be out of town, starting sunday, so I would have to leave this in my dads hands, and since he really doesn't know what I would want, I would need plenty of pictures.

Any reccomendations? I was thinking shaved rubstrips for sure, anything else is up in the air.

Maybe this is almost a blessing in disguise.

You could just replace the panels, that would guarantee they are dent free.

I would say do some crazy paint like checkered or two tone just because its rare that you have to paint the whole car. But it depends on the price of course.

Shaving off the rubstrips should be mandatory if you do any kind of paint.

Yeah, I don't think the doorjams enginebay etc are getting painted, so anything too crazy might not work out. The price shouldn't be too bad, I ran it past the guys at some of the body shops, and they figured something like 2 tone isn't really a big deal, but they said to stick to close to the same color, and otherwise, its just labor.
