    Hey all,
The Beater has some rust that my friend Nadine wants to take car of before winter. Any Suggestions on how to do it at home?

Maybe we shouldn't bother it is a really old car to begin with.

You can wet-sand it off carefully down to bare metal... then bondo if you need to and then wet-sand that until its smooth, then paint and wet-sand it.... it will probably look kinda sketchy but would be fun on a beater

      Re: Rust

I have been playing with the idea for like 3 months now... after seeing some Vortex people do it and Vince I could be doing my own prep work for paint next spring.

More or less you need bondo, sander, and time.. then primer and paint... if the rust is really really bad you will have to cut the section out, weld in a new part and then bondo and sand. But I dont know much about this... talk to me next spring

Ya, i once helped my buddy prep his truck for paint..my god that is a chore.

If you want good results, make sure the sanding is as even as possible (aka, all done by hand, dont use those palm sanders or belt sanders) and budget at least twice as much time as you think it will take...ugh, every time I think of those 2 weeks i cringe haha
