Re: Friend with TDI loosing power over 3000 rpm

Mentioned this to another TDI owner, his experience with the problem was that VW advised him to use a VW fuel additive every few tanks. Said the problem was due to Diesel quality here, since using the additive he's had no problem.

      Kuhli,
Thanks! I actually went yesterday and bought a big jug of PS additive from the Esso Truck Stop on Barlow. When I was taking young Alex home, I had 4200 rpm in 4th gear, passing a truck and horse trailer.

      Later,

Is it that yellow label stuff? Howes I think, it is what I use anyways. Well it would be if I would unpack it in the garage anyways.

The Power Service (PS) is in a grey jug of bottles. I bought a big jug and a small bottle good for 2 tanks. My thinking was to refill the little one and keep it in the truck.

How does it work? Too soon to tell. I have been looking for an additivie since I read about Seafoam on another site. Can't seem to find it. They say it minimizes the clogging problem. Chose PS because of a recommendation on another link.

The only think I seem to notice is less smoking when I go to WOT. Time will tell on the clogging. BUt if I change the EGR setting with VAG-COM, I may never know.

Does anybody know where I can find Seafoam?

Re: Friend with TDI loosing power over 3000 rpm

Well, this weekend I finally reset my EGR to 370 mg/stroke using the value 33768 with the VAG-COM. Too simple once in there.

Now I am motivated to fix the other dozen things wrong with this wonderful piece of Mexican built German Engineering!

Next thread is on radio problems.

Thanks again for all the great advise and directions from "those who know how".

Yes, it is something else. I see your intake was still KINDA open. I could not even stick my finger in the tiny hole left in the middle. My digital camera was downtown in my office when I did mine. Too bad. I have no idea why it was still running. About 90 kmh was all I could get up to.

Did you reset your EGR so it doesn't happen again?
