  • PhatNoise Problem!!

Hey - anyone have any advice on installing PhatNoise? I can't get the two couplers to go together. I know there's a "dummy" plug over the cd changer harness. I took that off, and I can't get the PhatNoise harness to click into the VW harness. The "male" plugs don't seem to slide into the "female" plugs. It's almost like there's something blocking them, but I can't see what's causing the problem. Anyone have this problem??

What do you mean by "cradle problem"? These stupid couplers just don't want to go together.

I had the same problem and had to seek help from someone else to make sure I wasn't going crazy. The trick was to wedge in one side first until it clicks, and then push hard on the other side to get it to click in.

Don't feel bad . . . i wrestled with mine for about 15 minutes before I decided to bring forth the thunder within my mighty anacondas and make the harness fit.

Yes, those things can be a real pain in the ass. Don't feel as if you are going to brake them, because you won't. Just dig deep and give er'!

Got 'er in there. I opened up the female contacts a little with a pointed screwdriver...snapped in really easily after that!

Yeah, the PhatBox cable plugs directly into the cd changer cable. SHOULD be a 5 minute install....however, with the troubles I had shovin' the two harnesses together, and the mounting screws not wanting to line up without some muscle, it took around 1/2 hr. It's really cool once you get 'er workin' and well worth the money.

I was pretty disappointed with the mounts! I had to take my grinder out and do some serious modifications to my CD changer bracket for the phatnoise to mount properly!

The Phatbox has its own mounting bracket that is different from the CD changer bracket. Or at least it is for my Beetle.

I bought new brackets with my phat, and the install was 5 mins. Cut a bit of carpet to get the plug out into the open, was easier to work with. Love it.

Anybody notice a static 'whine' with engine noise when the PhatBox is announcing something? I can't hear it over the music of course, but the quiet between songs makes it more noticeable.
