I like the EuroWerks name... and I think it fits. With that said, Smarty's idea with the umlauts (the two dots above the "u") would also be a good idea.
What about EuroWurks.... with the umlauts on top of the "u".
that would work too colin.. i guess tommorow's meet we can decide on a name change.. domain change easy to do.. banner page easy to do.. keep the forums the same.. good enough for me lol
Well if we get enough votes (make sure you vote in the poll at the top of the page) I think we can start another poll and just put in the names that people seem to favour most.
I like EuroWerks and EuroRides and the Alberta/Calgary Euro Car Club too, they are all pretty clear, the EuroWerks is a bit more catchy but less clear, kinda a shop name, the other two I think are more clear and less catchy, I am happy to put those kinds of options to a vote if you guys are too.
I think we should keep the forums the same with (I would suggest) a color update to match our new t-shirts (if we order them) and we would I am sure change the name/domain/logo. We could send out an email to existing and past members letting them know we have expanded the club too.
That might even get some of our old members back if they no longer have VW's.
yep, euroworks is definately 200% a shop name, doesn't exactly sound like a club/group
as for the whole name change thing...I'll sport NVD decals for life y0!
who cares if its a shop name, we do shop type stuff.. we do DIY/Ghetto installs in garages and parking lots everyday, we advise eachother on parts and tuning. we do exactly what any shop does except we have no shop front, because our shop front is in every garage and every heart of every young or old man or woman who may or may not own a euro car in or around the alberta region and sometimes elsewhere.
The car club is...about cars. If someone from CVD sells their VWs, and buys a Dodge they can still come to meetings etc, but since the purpose is VWs they usually don't stay forever.
The whole point of this club was a place for local VW people to talk about their cars. Now that there's a bigger userbase, won't attracting all Euro cars dilute the content?
NVD has focus - watercooled VWs. If you start taking every person that has a BMW or an Audi (who have their own clubs btw), how is it different than becoming a big euro beyond.ca? And does that make it better?
Sure it sucks that people move to different brands, but that's what happens when you have clubs of newer cars. What happens when Blair buys a Ford? Or if I buy an RX8? Maybe Ryan will buy a big mudder Suburban. Where does it end? Keep blurring the lines?
And once again those that are sticking with the modern MK4s/MK5s will have to find a new home to have really good conversations about their cars.
Personally I think the older members have gotten bored with the same "which chip/which intake" etc and want change.
I like 'EuroWerks'. It definatley 'werks' for me! ....I know, I'm a loser. Oh, and I agree it does sound a tiny bit like a shop name but hey, we do have enough techs to start one! I like Kor's idea, we should start a new thread with just name options.
