Kia Fires President, CEO; Adds VW Exec
October 07, 2005 -Karl Greenberg and Gregory Solman
* The Irvine, Calif., automaker confirmed today that the 52-year-old executive, who rose to president and CEO in January 2003, has left the company.
* J.H. Lee, previously senior executive vice president, will replace Butterfield.
* Len Hunt, the former executive vice president of Volkswagen North America, Auburn Hills, Mich., who was slated to become a board member of VW sibling Bentley Motors, will join Kia as evp and chief operating officer.
Holy Crap and here everyone thought he was going to Bentley. I Guess KIA offered him a better deal, or something eh? More oney would be my guess, or maybe KIa isn't doing so hot these days who knows?
Guess = he was never supposed to take the job at Bentley, this was an exit push. KIA snatched him up and in 5 years will have made far more gains than VW will have.
