    Re: VWoA wants your input

I have chatted with Mr Hunt about the dealership issue and he agrees it needs a lot of improvement. I believe they are also trying to follow up on complaints about dealerships that are sent to the main office.

They shouldn't even need a follow up system for complaints because the dealership should bend over backwards to make it right. Therefore, no reason to complain.

Yea, you'd think there would be severe consequences for being "written up" to the main office. You'd think the dealership would bend over backwards if for no other reason to avoid the embarassment and bad internal press of that happening, but it sounds like it's all of them so no one really gives a crap if their dealership gets complaints against them.

I agree with all of Kor's Post #11 comments.

Hasn't VW recognized the fact that their dealerships are garbage before now? Agreeing the dealerships need alot of improvement and doing something about it are 2 totally different things. Shouldn't something have been done already about it? My local dealership is just as bad now as it was back in the mid-late 90's. Has VW been sitting around for nearly 10 yrs thinking "yep... Our dealerships sure are brutal" and then go out for lunch? I think fixing the dealerships should be priority #1.

My other big beef is I believe Volkswagen should open their eyes up and re-read their own name.. Volks-Wagen.... People's car. High $30,000 entry level cars are not people's cars. They need cheaper and smaller alternatives. Either shrink the golf's, or bring over the Lupo's and Polo's.

            Re: VWoA wants your input

I know I pissed off the dealship when I bought my GTI as they didn't phone me for the post sales call. I made it the easiest sale in the world for buddy and he dropped the ball on SO many things.

My main suggestion is to stop with the upsell bundles with the packages. Nothing in the world would have made me buy a VR6 over a 1.8t (except for perhaps a VR6t ) but I would have gladly paid for the climatronic and some of the other stuff that was VR6 only.

The aftermarket respect is also pretty critical. VW basically started the 'sport compact' thing way back when and now when you mention any form of mod you get threatened with the blanket 'WE WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY' by uninformed service advisors. I had this at Northland when I asked to have a boost gauge installed by their certified VW techs.

            I could go on.

On the other hand, if we take our toyota to the toyota dealership, they treat my wife like a goddess. Free coffee, newspapers, and a loaner car. Gee...all the VW dealer gives me is the finger...
I totally agree with Flanders on this point as well. What I have to add is get Rid of the Foam Running rails ,and go back to the old design before those became the norm. I have had issues with my foam running rails and door seals water was coming into my car when it should be tigher than a drum with no leaks!!!!

I was treated horribly by 4 dealerships and only 2 got their act together after several phone calls to VW Customer care. I should have to keep phoning Customer Care because the dealerships can't get their act together.

I also want to add if someone has massive warranty work like I have had we should be treated with respect not like it is our fault! This has happened personally to me. The warranty work should be handled in a timely manner not having to make multiple trips because the parts are not in!

On the plus Side I love driving my Car it handles great in the Snow.
Down Side: I want to HEATER to and AIR Conditioning to BLAST me out of there when I have it on! My Husbands comment it should be so powerful it feels like your melting into the seats. His 1993 Toyoto Truck heater far surpasses my Golf 100 % and mine is a newer Vehicle.

My feet freeze in the winter because the way the air is directed to the floor area. Don't even both trying to have on your upper body and feet at once it is the pits!

Another point take into account we have Harsh Winters here Blockheaters should be a standard part of the equipment and we shouldn't hosed for them. $450.00 is just crazy. Who can afford that?

I too buy extras for my car keep me happy, treat me well Give me a loaner when my car is in the shop you will keep me coming back.

My Car is a 2003 GLS.

Give us more choices with Diesel Cars, and Hybrid Cars. I keep hearing about the Lupo, Lets Get it here!!!!

                Amen to that as well.
Ya I would also like to see a stop to age discrimination by the dealership. Just cause you are in your teens and drive a nice VW means you are a bad driver, burn out, cant drive standard worth a damn, always downshift and all that other crap. Its getting old and pissing people like myself right off. Also now some of the workers there when you go in and talk get lippy and start talking about aftermarket parts and what they do. So many times they are full of crap and dont even know what the part does.

Give more credit to the people doing something to their car. Ie: aftermarket parts. If anything the people doing this would baby their car more than try to ruin it. personally if I had a stock vw I wouldnt care that much how fast I went over a speed bump, but compared to someone who has aftermarket suspension they arnt going to bomb it over the speed bump, they will slow down to a minimum and cruise over the speed bump. So the dealership people stop giving people a hard time and stop trying to blame certain problems on a subwoofer or aftermarket stereo system when your brakes ware down. (it happened to my friend) And just admit you screwed up.
                sry long rant hehe

Business is and always will be about adding value to your customers. I took my VW to NL for a tune-up, spent $500 and they couldn't even be bothered to wash it. That's simply brutal, considering what dealerships for other manufacturers do.

Not necessarily a bad thing. Have you seen the job they do? I specifically state that I don't want them to wash it when I go in.

                      Re: VWoA wants your input

Overall Ive been pretty satsified with my VW, but then again I had sites like this to tell me everything about them (common recalls, that i have never recieved a letter about)

Squeeks and rattles are terrible in these cars though, but I expected that by reading websites again...not that it couldnt be fixed.

Modifying VWs is a pain in the ass as many dealerships threaten you if you so much as change out your taillights...with other companies (dodge, chev) offering FACTORY upgrades like BT's and Mopar parts for the srt4 you guys have really dropped the ball keeping the GTI a 'cool' car.

And lastly, this is more my problem than anyone else, but there is absolutly no excuse for a 2 year old car to be rusting.

^ werd to that, but you have known about it for like a month now... have you so much as called the dealer to inquire about what they will be able to do for you? That **** only gets worse with time... I would nip it in the bud if I were you. (rust obiviously)

Please, please, please, please, pleasssseee.... send an R32 to Canada!!

I know, there have been many stories about bumper issues and safety issues that could not be overcome in the Canadian market, but lets look at the facts for a moment. 5,000 R32's produced in the States... intended to be sold over a 2 year period. All cars were sold... 13 months later. In fact, VW considered this a "corporate gamble" at one point. Nevertheless, all 5,000 R32's were sold with little advetising or marketing effort.

Are you simply going to let Subaru and its WRX STi make sales here in Canada and do nothing?
