I would upgrade, not worry about the dealership, because I can guarantee that they will not cover it....and at that point the car is apart in their shop and you're fooked having to get them to throw the stock clutch back in....I'm considering buying a VR clutch or a G60 flywheel with a sachs kit in advance, so when mine does go, I can swap it out in a day....I would do that myself though, save the labour!

              Learn how to drive stick.

mine went at 110,000k and it had been chipped since 50k. I replaced it with the Autotech VR6 clutch and Autotech lightened G60 flywheel. Great package imo. Never had a prob since. (PS. when upgrading to VR6 clutch you need a differetn flywheel wheel as the size is different (21mm vs 28mm))

                Re: High Reving??

Damn. I have 50k on my original clutch on the VW, and my Neon had 140,000 before the 3 puck was put in.

Northland said they inspected the clutch (some kinda access panel to it) and said it looked like new at 39,000.

Then again they were also surprised that at 39k I had 80% brakes left and 70% on my front tires. They said I must baby it. HA!

Access panel??!! They must have used someone's x-ray vision to check that clutch....

LOL that is what I was thinking. Only way I know how to check a clutch is remove the tranny.

Somehow people love to jump into conclusion(upgrade this or that). More reasonable guess is the weather changed, also the record hottest these few days. The car is smart enough to adjust itself, but you want to think ahead before the car did.

Ok thanks for all the help, so to sum everything up buy the new upgraded clutch from ecstuning.com and get it installed elsewhere. Problem solved?? i guess..

Just didnt think that damn clutch should go so fast, and 2 of my friends did so fast, and I hear some people get like 40k+ on it.

Lately just been hearing stuff going wrong with VW. Not just u guys but lots of my friends cars 2.

I’m afraid your problem will never stop there unless your car is already out of warranty. What if you are making a claim on the powertrain warranty? And after they take out the transmission they found out the incorrect parts were used?

Powertrain can be anything connects from the clutch and onward like the transmission, engine, axle, so on. It really not fun anymore if the warranty voided.

If you want to test then get your car do some up hill climb. If the engine only turn but the car move little or nothing then find out the problem from the right VW mechanic. If nothing happen then have a good night of sleep.

Those people can get only 40+K on their clutches were heroes. The two of your friends weren’t telling you jokes I guess.

I understand only half of what you're saying here . . . good point on the powertrain warranty, but would an upgrade to a VAG VR6 spec clutch affect powertrain coverage? I'm not so sure.

Ya heres the catch, my friend bought a new clutch as well the vr6 one your talkin about. But he got it installed outside of the dealership at another mechanic, and then something went wrong with his like MAF/MFA whatever and his car like wouldnt work at all. This was like a month later. Then he brings it to the dealership and they are like well ur warrenty is voided cause u have a system. Then he complained and everything, and then they were like actually we voided ur warrenty cause of ur clutch and u didnt get it installed from us. So much hassle that i as well will have to deal with.

Before going into dealership should I part out car? so they cant blame other crap like CAI.
