  • Going to black interior

I have started to mod the inside of my car to all black… I got a great paint that colour match’s 100% to the current black interior of the car, so up until this point things are going great. This weekend I am going to take the headliner down and redo it, here is where my question is and maybe Brent can help out in the answers as I know he has done it.

Should I Dye the headliner black?

    Or

Should I buy some fabric and glue it on to the current headliner?

Dying it looks like @$$. I tried it on a couple pieces and didn't like it at all. Be sure to get soem good grade automotive material that doesn't fade in UV.

just go to a fabric store and tell them what your doing and they will point you in the right direction. 3M makes some good stuff.

I am thinking of just paying to have this done, as I would rather have it done right... any idea of price or where to get it done?

Go an an upholstery place that does lots of cars.

There is a place on Blackfoot Trail and Heritage Drive, near the BP's where we meet. I have never had anything done there, but they supposedly do a lot of cars. He has a photo book of all the car interiors he has done, and when I was there he had some sample work like some car seats etc. Looked like they knew what they were doing, and didn't mind just chatting with me even though I told him I couldn't afford to have them do any work.

I found it - Alpine Upholstery

If you search for them you will see they are recommended by others. They did at least a couple of the show winning (SCN, V8Less) cars on Beyond.

Another one is Chinook Upholstery I think.

Degreaves (I think that is how it is spelt) is really really good from what I have heard.

I second DeGreaves, Stonewall!! I needed a vinyl piece of my driver's seat bottom replaced, as it was cracking from age. The vinyl piece on the other side of the cloth was ok, so it would have to be matched. They did an excellent job, and you can't tell that one vinyl piece has been replaced!!

What kind of paint is it? I have the top half of my cars interior in the living room since I havn't found any paint yet.

                              Thanks a lot,
