I'm thinking of doing a Mufflerectomy on my TDI, just wondering if anyone knows a good muffler shop to take it to? Thanks.

If your in Crowfoot, there's a good place next to the 7-11 there. That's where I had my exhaust installed.

Thanks, just called Carline Muffler and they quoted me 60-70$ to get it done, sounds like a good price. Anyone else ever had that done on a TDI?

So what exactly are you getting done? Just cutting off the muffler and welding on a straight piece in its place?

Pretty much yeah. Somewhere before the muffler, cut out the muffler (tips and all), and have a straight pipe either welded on or simply attached (to allow for easy switching later).

                    Re: Muffler Shop

TDIsteve did it and I believe he told me it was around $60+tip. You don't need to add a tip though as you can just get a downward bent end like stock. I have been thinking of doing this myself for the longest time but just never got around to it.

I'd have it routed into the cabin, trust me you will feel like you are driving faster, and when you get out, the whole world will be spinning!

Yeah I'm just going to get the turned down tip, I always hated cars with exhaust tips only on one side.. I guess I just like the balance of having dual tips.

I'm more than likely going in on thursday and I'll defintly post the price and results up.

                          Re: Muffler Shop

So I finally got this done. Total cost was $107, service was excellent, showed up around 1230 they told me to come back in an hour, did so and I was out the door by 215.

Sound wise it is a touch louder (As expected) and there is mild drone at higher rpms (around the 4000 mark) so unless it really really bothers you, you won't notice it at all. Turbo seems to spool a hair faster, but it could be my imagination as thats what I've been reading about.

Main thing, I can't see the ugly ass muffler sticking under my rear bumper anymore and that alone was worth it!
