I cant get any spark in my car, I'm trying too figure why. I have power to the coil, and the coil works just fine on a different car. My hall sensor has 1.98v on the red/black wire, and 1.98v on the signal wire, and on the brown/white it gets ground. I think those numbers are to low. Is there any reason for that happening?

Re: Hall sensor tech
you need a minimum of 4 volts between the 2 outer terminals with the connector disconected, key on. if you got volts, peel back that rubber boot and re-connect the terminal. you need an LED test lite to place between the center and either outer terminal. when you try to start it, you should see the LED flicker. if nothing happens, it's toast. you have to replace the whole distributor. they go bad often, if thats it. i've seen the wiring to the computer break too (no volts).
hope it helps.

Thanks for the reply tho, this form has been my best luck so far.KR

Re: Hall sensor tech
Volkstech, are you really a VW tech? If so you are my new best buddy, and do you have anythoughts on my problem?
Also from what I have seen message boards progress in this order:
-Questions about bolt ons and simple stuff
-Then more tricky question, mostly on FI
-And finally about 10,000 of the same questions that are just retarded.
For example "I want to beat my buddies 911 turbo, so help me build a junk yard turbo kit for my 96 jetta 2.slow using my stock engine mangment. and btw do I need a downpipe? and where does it go????

Re: Hall sensor tech
what am i, chopped liver!! did you think i just made this up like its my first day?...kidding.
it doesn't mean that the connector is bad, it lets you know if the sensor is getting power, and then if it has a signal. if it has no volts, i would suspect a broken wire. that has to be fixed first before you can check for the signal.
the black/red is +, white/red is signal, brown/white is ground if memory serves. like i said, if it is the sensor, the whole distributor has to be replaced.
good luck!

and controls the sequential injection of your injectors.with the plug off
your car it will still run.your injectors will then gang fire.
what you should inspect is your crank sensor.
your distributor has nothing to do with generating spark

haha no no your not chopped liver maybe diced tho...j/k
I still cant figure this out tho. The wires are mint, the ground it perfect, the battery is at 12.68v. I'm starting to suspect my wiring too the ecu.
For a little background it is digi 1 ecu into a 94 gti.
Does anyone know how many volts go through the #3 pin on the digi 1 ecu. It connects to the fuses panel g 1/3 or number 3/85 on the fuel pump relay.

check your cranksensor by the oil filter

Re: Hall sensor tech
good point on the crank sensor gtx. maybe diggin' too deep here (haven't seen the car) but is the distributor turning when you crank it? you would have no signal if the timing belt was broken. have you put a noid lite on the injectors(or LED test lite) ahhhh...blind, no start diagnosis
good luck!
