We want tough reliable car that could take punishment in all kinds of racing. I think stock hp (maybe chipped) with shorter gearing and very aggressive clutch type differential will do the trick. We will go very aggressive on shell itself, anything from cutting chunks of sheetmetal to lexan windows and composites body panels

If you build powerful engine then you would need to look at racing gear set, some serious driveshafts, big brake kit and tire dealer for your best friend.

I know that stock motors brake driveshafts and strip gears in tranny under heavy load. This motor its not going there for bling bling.

O man , you cant just sit in garage all the time, you need to learn how to balance things.

I hope its not going to take that long because we have more cars to build this summer.

Anybody can hook us up with Vag-Com interface ?

Re: 1.8 Turbo into MK II Golf officaly started

Progress got a little bit slow down by some side projects plus we got this 01 GTI to strip to before we continue.
I cut off the rebar, rad support with rad and condenser, removed the fender and hood (on top of the car) but the rest was done by previous owner

        Anybody recognizes the car ?

Car had Subaru hood scoop, side skirts, front and rear valance, GIAC reflashed ECU, AEM cold air intake, G-reddy turbo timer, Autometer Gauges, Front lower tie bar, Zimmerman crossdrill rotors, Supersprint catback, Pateck springs,

Nope not that I know of. You can talk to my man Martin @ www.sensolutions.com he is local. He also makes interfaces for Ross-tech. Tell him Dave sent you from South Centre Fine Cars. He wil either give you a deal or triple the price.

If you ask Kris (Kor) you might be able to borrow his. It is the newest ross-tech hardware so the software activation is built into it so you will have to problems getting it working on and pc (plus it is usb and serial).
Edit: You are looking at about $330 for software licence and hardware but it is worth it in the long run. You can also tell Martin I sent you (I useto work for him) but as Dave said he might have to charge you double then

That was the guy that was at Fahrfromhome a couple years back with the stereo and such, unless of course he sold it but I would think it is the same car.

Yes that is correct but this is not the same Mojave Beige GTI that has the spinners, that is a different one I believe.

The cheapest place to get the VAG is
Link to ODB Tool site you get the cable and the shareware version of VAG for something like 71usd .. Then after that if you need the full version you can buy it for another 150 or so...

Cheapest place around.. and it has worked fine for me for like two years now..

That is all good if you never have to do any logging. I found that those connectors they use tend to fall off. Pluss they do not support fast logging for 2002+ vehicles. 3samples/sec sucks compaired to 30+ s/s. THe Ross-tech licesence is $99 us. Also the newest version of software is for the new cables with dongle only as the activation is built into hardware, the only wasy to use those OBD cables etc is to use a very old version of the software(which is no longer updated).
