I just wanted to drop a line about how crappy these brake pads are. After I put them on front and rear with slotted roters and SS brake lines I didn't even feel a difference in the braking. Then I had to take the rear off because the pad material was separating from the metal backing. After the 500 mile break in I took my car out on the Nurburgring and in less then half a lap my brake pads had overheated. When I finished my lap going easy on the last 2/3 of the lap and pulled into the parking lot all four brake cailiapers where smoking, prior to this I had put the stock pads back on the rear but the front with the mintex were smoking as well and most of the braking is done if the front. I already ordered new brake pads again and this time I got EBC yellow stuff I have not recieved them in the mail but hopefully they will be good. I will keep you upated when the new pads arive.

Yeh, Hit up Simon. Sounds like you need some ceramic pads for Nurburgring.Like Type 2's? Visit my blog!

Re: Mintex Red Brake pads
First of the first, your choice of equipment on doing something that extreme is purely idiotic. I can imagine you choose the Mintex Blue Box on that, but never do with Red Box.
Give you a better idea. The choice of pads is only one factor to take care of, the next will be the brake fluid, rotors and the calipers that can handle the heat/abuse.
A minor improvement can be found with the EBC provided with the right rotors.
There is no brake pads that can stop great without eating up the rotors. You cannot have the cake and eat them the same time.

Re: Mintex Red Brake pads
WOW I didn't think this would turn into a pissing match.
I few thing I should correct my self on. I also have changed the brake fluid to ATE super blue racing fluid. Also these brakes were ment to be temporay until I get my big brake kit next spring. I plan on getting the ECS tuning stage 2 ver 1 brake kit with the optional 2 piece rotors and the stage 1R kit for the rear with 2 piece rotors. I needed an upgrade for now to use for this autox season.
I am not brake pro exedentaly but I though the Red box pads were an upgraded pad.
I have already order the new EBS pad from a company calle Perfect Brakes based out of Ohio. I should have them here in about a week.2004 Reflex Silver GTi 1.8t

No. hmmm... Not every brand available for VW. The car isn't popular enought for everyone to die for.
I had tried a couple of the others as well. What’s your point? Is it really hard to read the ‘specs’ for the aft.mtk stuff? Either the product has the specs available or there are none.
