  • Rim lock key lost . . .

So, I go to pop off my rims yesterday to dress up my calipers and, to my surprise, the key to the security lug on my rims is not there. I called the place that changed my tires over a while back and (surprise, surprise) they haven't seen it.

So, what's the deal? Can VW help me or do I have to get the darn things torched out?

If its the VW oem key, any shop can get it off, I got a flat tire once without my key and the CAA guy spun it off like it wasn't even there.

WIcked . . . thanks guys. I was a little worried since it's usually the things that seem inconsequential that end up being the biggest PITA

Damn dealership 'rotated my tires' ages ago, and they somehow put 3 of my original locking lugs back on, and gave me a "mystery' 4th locking nut. And the bone heads also gave me the key for only this 4th mystery one.

Fortunately, the key sort of fit the other 3, but I didn't notice it was incorrect until one of them stripped as I was removing my winter tires. After confronting the dealership, they claimed they wouldn't trade me keys or lugs and wanted me to pay $25 for a new one. um...yeah. I then spent $10 on 4 non-security lug's.

oops. Sorry for the rant good thing my wheels aren't too bling (Longbeaches)

So if somebody wants to steal my tires, go wild!
