the guy said its sometimes easier to powercoat the entire wheel then have ab wheel repolish the lips but i don't like that idea

so i'm having them mask the lips off doing the coating and if the lips need some love i'll polish them myself with all the sandpaper i have left over from my manifold and i'll have them looking like chrome

Would also like to know this...Maybe Ill just get them totally gunmetaled and then worry about the lips this winter?


and how polished do you think I could get the lips on my wheels? I dont know if I trust myself to do such things haha.

james as far as the lips go. well they have to spray this acid stuff on them to strip the old paint,etc and the RH's lips are clearcoated so you could have them do that to the entire wheel then mask off the lips after they strip them..

to polish them its easy.. just take like 1000 then 2000 grit sandpaper and wetstand them going in a big circle have to keep it straight you know? then start using abbrasive polishing compound and start going nuts.. the only problem is with the raw aluminum you have to polish it frequently or they will look dull basically like iforged high polished wheels you just have to take care of them

Wow..This seems like what I want haha, I need to figure out exactly how dark of gunmetal I want (probably really dark). As far as the lips go, what do you guys think? Do you think it would look crap with the lips gunmetaled?

Mike - Im emailing you now but we should go at the same time, for $75/wheel you may as well get them gunmetaled haha.

Ryan - Do you know if they do repairs too or just powdercoating? You best be getting some mesh powdercoated to match that splitter while you're at it!

i'd get the lips polished james.. all gunmetal would look funky me thinks

Lip will look way better polished with powdercoat.

ya, im sure you guys are right about the lips. Maybe ill do what ryan suggested and give polishing them myself a shot over the winter - Can any monkey do it without screwing up?

yea.. hell i did my manifold myself and it looks good to me.. you just have to do the same pattern of sanding so you don't get cross marks or whatever.. you know?

Hmmm, I was considering red with polished lips for mine a long time ago........how close they can get the red is anyones guess....

alex the guy said they can do any color you want but the price goes up.. he said if i wanted BMP they would have to get it special ordered in and could cost up to 150/wheel then so i'll take shiny plain black for me.. but you could get them to do red for you..
