    Ok Guys and Gals,
Here's the Scoop on my Vehicles. 2003 GLS Golf goes into one dealership and the Ding me an extra $40.00 over the other dealership for out of Province inspection. So I go to the other dealership for oil change and for Warranty work Where they tell me my car is 2 years old I need a brake fluid flush and it is going to cost me $117.00 including the GST. I'm like WHAT?

They are jerking my chain about my door handles etc...

    Ok Car # 2

VW Jetta 1982 The Beater Car!
The dealership tell me the Beater needs new Rear Brake Cylinders, rear Springs and Struts, Metal Rear Brake lines, Brake Fluid Flush, Wheel Alignment.

The COST of these said parts and labour and taxes is TA DA: 1, 635.83 Which is more than the car is worth.

I went to a shop reccomened here and by Air Riders That is WAY better and i got a deal on the parts to a tune of $230.00 Big Difference isn't it.

Watch out with small repair shops. Sometimes if they don't know the new stuff they can be more costly than the dealer. Maybe you should move to Calgary, I know a few people who can help you out.

That Would be great if you know people there. I have met some great people from the Air Riders board and some awesome people from a small shop here that deals with VWS only.

Dealing with auto dealerships is just like dealing with any other store - buyer beware. The more you know, the more equipped you are to deal with bad service, sketchy charges, etc . . . There are good people at most dealerships I've dealt with, but it's the bad ones you remember. If I get good service, I'll talk about it when the subject comes up. If i get bad service, I'll tell everybody who'll listen.

There are certain service advisers who have no mechanical aptitude and, quite frankly, do nothing but read books and regurgitate information. I hate those ones and i simply refuse to deal with them. I do my darndest to seek out the guys - or gals - with a tech background. If they know that you're somewhat up on the workings of your vehicle, I find they're more apt to be frank and honest, thereby developing a good business relationship. I don't ***** about wear and tear items like brakes and belts and they don't try to snow me -- yet at least.
