  • Help me with some measurements?

    Hi all,

Can anyone help me to find out some specifications on the following? I tried measuring some of them on my car but I don't have anything except a crappy elementary school ruler handy. I need to find out:

    - Stock intercooler piping diameter from turbo -> smic on 1.8T
    - Stock throttle body diameter where upper intercooler pipe/hose connects

I am guessing its 2.5" for the first and 3" for the second.

Basically I want to order some Silicon hose bends/connectors today and I don't want to get the wrong size. I'm at work so I can't run out and do any better measurements either.

I was hoping to make a metal pipe from SMIC to TB, so please post results when you find 'em!

If you dont have a flexible tape, take a string or shoe lace, wrap it around the pipe, mark it & then measure it on your ruler.

**** that is a pretty good idea. That gets the circumference, then I need to use some mumbo-matho-jumbo to get the diameter... DIVIDE BY PI!

See they where right when they said you would use math outside of school!

Come to think of it, does anyone know a good place to order silicon(e) hoses from?

I also need to know how wide the opening is on a VW OEM or Forge diverter valve

Hmmm I was thinking they would be wicked expensive for something like this, but I could try it.
