Driving down deerfoot yesterday and out of the blue the car jolts, I hear a beep. It was the gas gauge dropping to zero and the low fuel warning light turning on witch it does at every corner. Then the Speedo stops working and the transmission light turns on. Now the mileage wont turn over and when you floor it and get to 6+ RPM the car doesn’t change gears! What a lemon! Needless to say I have had it with the MKIV. Every two weeks something brakes and from the seat catching fire to this I think its time we cut our losses and go else where for a mode of transport. Any ideas on what this might be? It’s 2003 Golf GLS 2.0L automatic

Re: Stupid car!
Yeah this car must have been built on a Monday. My dad was saying that GM a few years back had employees putting ball bearings in the frame rails so they would roll around when you took off and stopped just to piss people off... so I guess it could be worse. My signature is so last year...

Re: Stupid car!
What a POS. You are not alone thinking the car is a lemon. I was too.
You are welcome to get your story in here: http://www.myvwlemon.com
IMO if you rapidly repair the same problems then you are driving a lemon.

Re: Stupid car!
CAMVAP is canada's equiv. --> look it up.
As for all the negativity... i hate to say it but look up any type of car and there's unhappy customers... again I am sorry you got one but i think it's generalizing to say all mk4 VW's are lemons.

Re: Stupid car!
Originally posted by RussellBYou seem to post a lot of negative things about VW's and your VW? I don’t mean to be a dink but why do you drive one if they are so bad? I just went through that myvwlemon.com and it gave me a very uneasy feeling about my purchase as I really don’t have the money to repair a "lemon" but so far the car seems to be running great… other then the door lock.
How about if you view the negatives(you think) at my point? A car that bought brand spanking new(00 J TDI auto) from the dealership. Problems non-stop from day 1 and a car never has its own fuel economy like what it stated on the book. The service guy told me ‘It is only your car has the problem.’ What? ‘The whole nation?’ So, why are you guy calling yourself a VW dealership if you can’t fix the VW’s cars? Are you running a puppet show with the VWOC string attached?
A warranty claim with the dealership was like dancing lessons with a 3-yrs old, you make a move they move but NEVER come forward.
When I bought my car the sales guy didn’t even let me know the intake will ridiculously cook-up. Why don’t they let me know the bill for the cure is only six hundred bones before I sign the cheque for the car? At least they should give me a 5% off ‘Intake-Cook-Up’ coupon. All the down times, in and out of the dealership, who is the one that time got wasted?
Arrrr… Door lock module problems. Hay, I replaced that with an update version. How nice? That bloody thing refused to open the driver door for me one day. Again, you are not alone in the ocean, most of us are swimming and trying to breathe together.
