Re: straight piped my TDI and milage dropped 150Km
I appeciate everyones input, but are there anymore TDI drivers or Mechanics (dave) that might have some more input on why my millage took such a sudden drop, because my driving style did not change . so we can rule that out
Re: straight piped my TDI and milage dropped 150Km
Kris has a point, but there are things that affect efficiency in a diesel. Firstly it is very unlikely to be your straight pipe. Ignore any thoughts of losing back pressure causing loss of torque, this is a VNT turbo.
Things that I can think of that would affect efficiency in a big way would be compression (a tiny change here will make a big difference), fuel injection characteristics (timing, length of window, spray pattern, pressure), running way too rich, a real restriction in the intake (snow screen/ soot) or boost leak, sensor error.
Assuming you dont have a flat tire or something

Re: straight piped my TDI and milage dropped 150Km
I have not checked to see if my intake is clogged yet, I only have 26000km on the car and it was such a sudden drop in mileage like one day it was good next day it was bad

A huge leaf/garbage in the snow screen can cause loose of power and milage.

did you try a diffrent gas station, one that serves a lot of diesel some are
still running winter grade which sucks for mileage when the weather gets hot..
