the only thing I've heard bad about Miltek is a)customer service can be shotty (stratmosphere), and b)*sometimes* the fitment is a bit off. I figure I'll be going with Miltek whenever I save enough bones to buy another exhaust, just because of it's "quiet" reputation.
A guy here in Ottawa just a Miltek turbo-back for his golf, and said this:
Like I was expecting, Milltek TB exhaust is pretty quiet. It is a bit more throaty on regular driving but not too much. Much deeper sound at full thottle and the tone is pretty nice. The power gain is also noticeable, the turbo spool way faster and delivery of power seems more linear. As for the noise inside the car, it is at the same level as stock. You got to be outside the car (or windows rolled down) to know its not stock. That's exactly the kind of setup I wanted.
One more comment from him (I'm pretty much sold on this exhaust, BTW ):
I found out at idle, reg. driving or WOT, when windows are all shut down, the noise inside the car is pretty much like stock.
There is no "resonance" in the car caused by a bad harmonic of the system whatsoever. I was impressed by this. From the inside, you cannot tell the exhaust isn't stock. I went into cars in which at 120km/h the resonance in the car was really annoying, so I know what you are talking about. With this exhaust, you dont have this problem.
So far, the only problem I got is when the car gets hot, the exhaust system expand for about 3/4" in lenght and cause the pipe that goes over the real axle to bang a little bit at very low RPMs (only when shifting into first gear). It's funny cause when cold, the tip sit flush with the rear valence, but once warmed, the tip stang about 3/4" out of the valence. Anyway, I'll fix that this week-end, should not be a big problem. And since this happen like not very often, it doesn't really bother me.
