I used a clay bar today for the first time and I have to say that I'm not overly impressed nor disappointed. I bought the Meguiar's Quick clay system at CT for like $20 or something in the hopes that I could minimize the streaks and swirl marks in my paint left by the DPO (dipshizzle previous owner).
The clay worked really well for obvious surface contaminants like bugs and a few drops of sap, but didn't do much for the swirl marks. I don't think that the Meguiar's Quick Detailer that comes in the package is the right cleaner for the job. Anybody have any other suggestions? I guess that I need some sort of mild abrasive to really smooth things out (I'm not talking gouges here - just streaks and swirls).
The NXT wax is freaking awesome, but i'm not sure that it's so much better than my $8.00 NuFinish to warrant the $30 price tag. It's very easy to apply and it's easy to buff off. I even went really thick on the bumpers and it still came off without a crazy amount of effort.
Should have taken pics, but I didn't. I'll post some 'after' pics tomorrow if the rain holds off.
