  • Goddamn Theives!!!

Sometime between 10p.m. last night and 7am this morning someone busted into our Golf. They popped the lock cylinder and managed to take only some CD's and the wifes keys for her work(the key thing is kinda wierd). They also left a bag by her car with a fake security and parking pass. I live in a supposed "secured" building. Hopefully the cameras got somthing.

I need a hook up on a drivers side lock assembly. If anyone can help me out that would be great.

    Chris.

Chris that is horrible about your car getting broken into. You would think in a secure building you would be safe. I never leave any of my cds in the car or anything like that.

I a guy in Nanaimo with a really done up VW Jetta went to Vancouver and left his Valet key in the glovebox. Theives Broke in and stole his car using the Valet Key.

Jettas on the coast seem to be the ones most targeted there.

That is brutal man! Try getting in touch with Simon (Boy Racer) about the lock assembly. He mostly deals in aftermarket parts, but I think he can get OEM stuff at a good price as well.

I just got mine replaced from a break-in three weeks ago. (I feel your pain).

It was $285 at Fifth Ave for a new lock (takes three weeks to come in) a new plastic cover (mine was damaged) and labour. The lock itself was $138.00

There are a number of people who have replaced their locks with a blank. In retrospect, that's what I would have done. It's a cheaper fix and a cleaner look.

man latley ive seen lots of VW's get repaired frome breakins... these locks really arn't that good.. i think im just gonna fill the cylinder and put a passenger side cover over the lock assembly.... that will keep those shmucks away

                  Re: Goddamn Theives!!!

The problem with the locks is (in addition to crap for quality) they don't trigger the alarm. Open the hood, get an alarm. Open the hatch, get an alarm, break the lock, steal stuff, shut the door and relock it - no questions asked. Grrr!

                    Re: Goddamn Theives!!!

The issue is guys I can't smooth the lock out b/c I have a CL, no alarm or elec locks. So I'm either going to have to go aftermarket alarm w/ lock activation or buy a new OEM piece.

I wish it was as easy as just covering it over.

BTW the Tintin the lock I was priced was just over 150 and it was in stock. They qouted me 150 for labor to re key the lock. Seemed a bit high to me.

                      That sucks about the CL.

They must have ordered a bunch and can recode them in the shop then because mine had to come in from Mexico (fifth ave). Maybe you got a quote elsewhere...

My first invoice was total $312 but mine's a 2001 so they gave me 10 per cent off (it's in their newsletter.) Total came to $285. The lock was $135 before discount. It was worth it to me as the insecurity white electrical tape was quite bothersome.

I'm scottish and so I had no choice to call Montgomery. I was not going to pay 140 bux for a cylinder. Now I need to know if VW can rekey my supplied cylinder?

Does any have a hook up at a VW dealersship

My high voltage thief zapper is sounding better all the time. I will have to take a look at how the lock is assembled and see if I can make it work. Typically all it takes is a few junk yard parts to make it work.

I sympathize completely. My jetta was broken into a week ago, also in my "secure" underground parking lot. F**king crack whores.

Don't CL's have 'roll your own' windows anyways? They musta straight fucked up your lock if thats the case, with auto windows its alot easier to break in haha
