1st road trip in the 06 TDI

What better to do with a new car but take it on a road trip to break it in. For those that are interested here are the fuel stats for the trip.

1326 Km
Average speed: 97 Km/hr
Average fuel consumption: 5.2 L/100 Km

Not too bad I thought since the specs show hiway fuel consumption of 5.6 L/100 Km. Car ran great. Must say I hate cleaning bugs off of the front, took me half an hour this evening when we got home.

Now it's all broke in (1500 Km) and ready for some real tests.

Performance mods tend to have significantly negative effects on factory warranty, and as it is a new body style, it will likely be a while before aftermarket appearance products are available. There was an 06 Jetta at the dealer with a body kit and fin, but as they were VW parts, they were quite pricey...about 4K for the kit, painted and installed. A little steep in my opinion.

there are already CF hoods available for mk5s if that floats your boat.. and you can start doing wheels i spose..

Electronic EGR and intake coking up are something fun to deal with after.

Too bad they changed the bolt pattern and off set for the wheels. We have looked for some aftermarket wheels for some and no one can find anything yet??!!!

They should be the same as Audi has been for a bit so should not be that hard to find??
