  • Dad's Jetta is acting like a little . . .

    Beeeeotch!

My dad has a 1998 Jetta and it apparently has a demon in it. The wipers won't shut off. They come on and won't stop working I guess (he's in Ottawa, so I haven't seen them in action). We both agree that it's probably a relay. Does anybody know which relay to look for and where it is exactly?

If it's not the relay, he may have to replace the wiper switch itself. Does this require removal of the steering wheel and, if so, how complex a job is it? He says that he's too old to mess with things that can't be fixed in less than an hour . . . fair enough.

    Cheers

It's most likely the switch. I've seen a few short out and allow the wipers to stay on. No doubt your dad's Jetta has an airbag. I wouldn't recommend him screwing around with a potential bomb unless his life insurance is paid up. I would recommend him to take it to the dealership or a reputable repair shop. No sense playing with fire when you don't have to.

Yeah, good advice. Those things pack quite a punch. Thanks
