I am quite handy with a camera. Both digital and film. This weekend would be great time to get together if you are going to any of the meets. I am taking my digital and my vhs movie camera ( I know vhs is old but I can convert it to digital). There will be lots of subjects to photograph this weekend. I can give you some pointers. What kind of camera do you have?
Here is the tutorial for the way the top pic was done. It is fairly advanced. I would start off learning how to get some nice clean stills and manipulating light to get the effect you want.
