Speeding in Construction Zones

I have been brewing over this issue for the last few weeks. This includes all construction zones but ever since deerfoot south by Douglas Dale has been switched from 100 to 70 speeding in this area has really got me upset.

People that speed with undo care thru these areas should be pulled over, licence cut up and made to walk home.
If anyone has ever worked road construction they will understand this rant. It is percarious when working in these areas to be hit by even road debri. Let alone trying to concentrate onwork when cars are passing you at 100k, 5 feet from you.

We all use these roads for commuting, traveling or plesure, someone has to maintain and upgrade them.
Have repsect for there working environment.

Yeah that is tough I would not want to be working around there thats for sure. I do live in that part of town and I always slow to 70 as there are police often, and the road is rough, but yes everday you still see some guy going 110-120ish through there, glad at least fines are double in construction zones.

They should however make sure to raise the limit when people are not working, I have no problem slowing down for workers, but at night when there is nobody there I wish they would let us go normal speed again

Yea, construction zones frustrate me sometimes, there's one I go through daily and it's normally a 70 and it's down to 50, there's never anyone working there but when I try to slow down to 50 there's ALWAYS someone right on my arse in a huge ass bigsutrucksomethingorotherhugebumper gass guzzler. It ticks me off.

We have a skewed view as we drive small cars that handle well. Some construction areas are rough, narrow and the rules are there for 20 year old farm trucks and large transport trucks too. Also the weather plays a big role, in dry weather it is all right but after a cloudburst there could be other hazards in the construction areas. They think of the worst case scenario and make rules based on that. And then you get the jerks that will move pylons or signs in these areas (after the workers leave) that can screw a person up if you are doing 90 or 100 at night.

I really have no sympathy or tolerance for speeding in construction zones. The limit are there for a reason, and that is to protect the lives of those working there & those of people who are driving in them.

An saving an extra minutes to get where I am going is not worth risking a life.

We had all better get used to it, because this summer is going to be crazy with all the construction that is going on.

i slow down where there are workers and in school/playground zones aswell, but to have that big of a strip on deerfoot down to 70km (not that i can go much faster then that in the morning anyways) is just silly. 90% of that construction zone is not being worked on... so change the speed back. most of it is a cash cow for the city. but yes slow down for the workers out there, its there life your risking not only your own.

22x now has construction, so the speed limit is 60 do you have to do 60 at like 10 or 11 when no one is out?

Oh for christs sake...I understand the rant, dont get me wrong, but construction is a bunch of ******** in this city.

For starters - construction zones are generally about 300% bigger than they need to be. Secondly, living in the south is a gong show and is just getting worse. They start 15 projects at once which makes absolutly no sense, then they work an 8-10hr day..How about working 24 hour days?! Take guys from 2 job sites and get them working on one to get it done twice as fast. I really dont see how this doesnt make sense. The slowdowns are unreal because of road construction in this city for the last 3 summers straight. Imagine half the job sites getting completed in half the time...I dont see an issue with that.

Also, WHY wouldnt they finish the friggin' ring road before they hack up 22x? Im just moving into chaparral now and its going to be a **** show there for 2 years because of bad planning.

I am kinda suprised by the construction on 22X. One would think that there would be more pressing projects. Since the opening of the deerfoot extension there seems to be better traffic flow on 22x. Granted, I dont have to drive it during peak times.

i'd have to say last summer was the worst. there was constuction on deerfoot by douglasdale, mcloed trail by canyon ghetto's, and that back road that leads into woodbine. if you lived down south like in shawnessy it would take you about an hour and a half to get to southcenter. and then there was some retarded horse show that made traffice even worse... things should just be done right the first time. and yes construction zones are far too big i shouldn't be going 60 on the bridge heading west because constuction doesn't start till after the bridge.

...I live behind spruce medows, Im familiar with every traffic woe you listed haha Not to mention that 'stupid horse thing' happens about 5 times a year and it turns 22x from 90km to 50...this year is worse considereing we're only 1/2 into may, they've even said that this year is going to be the worst for sheer # of road construction jobs being done
