I think they are 15 or 16", they look like they are off an old A4.

Yep, they are 5x112, and those particular ones ar 15" and non-sport, the sports are the bottom ones, and 16"

16" will never be too small for a mk3, but they won't fit anyway.

Yea, Blair had 17's, I think they fit fine, with a bit of fender rolling (and probably watching the offset I'd imagine). You should be able to get 18's on even if you really wanted to, I saw some OZ aristos on a jetta a few days ago.

I don't like big wheels on MK3's but that's just my personal taste.

I think MK3's should be

a) quite low (I already know i'm not low enough but i'm just too practical)
b) have 15" or 16" wheels
c) Nice dish
d) wide (8" or 9" is sweet) and maybe even stagered although that's not for everybody esp. since it's FWD.

I do really like some MK4 wheels on MK3's though, the old GTI wheels (monte's?) they are 17 and I love the look of them.

If I would have slammed my carI wanted to go with some 15" (or even 16") keskins with 9" wide in the back. Unfortunately poke with wheel gap looks kinda silly so I decided to keep to 8's out back.
