  • Double You Tee Bee

So I was curious about a couple of things.
    1. Where can I buy black VW emblems for front and back?
    2. How much of a biatch is it to put them in?

Pic for exampe (cept its for a jetta)

I believe they are euro parts as they have them for German military vehicles so should not be hard to get and I dont think all that hard to put in.

Or you could just paint your own. When I was in the Czech Republic I was in a little town walking around and saw a black VW symbol in the window and picked it up for a few bucks, but this was like 7-8 years ago for MK3s when I had my Golf Trek.

front ones are easy... I don't know about the rear... I hope it doesn't have to be painted while on the car

you can buy the german military ones like blair said but they only make them for golfs/gtis (weak!) so you have to paint them.. no idea on how to remove the rear emblem tho

So who's done this? I know that guy with the GLI (Smrty something or other) has it in his sig, Did you get the back one done as well or only front?

Does the back emblem only come off when the lock assy is pulled? I dont want to have to f***ing paint the thing while its on the car haha

              Re: Double You Tee Bee

if you take the rear trim out of the trunk interior (inside of the 'lid') you can access the bolts that keep the lock mechanism in place. You have to disassemble the entire thing, I believe.

I looked into this a while ago with my Jetta and came accross some sketchy how-to's on Vortex. I was going to paint the "inside" (black part) of the VW logo.

                          Re: Double You Tee Bee

Yea, I did both the front and the back emblems like you are wanting to do. The front was simple, just take it out of the grill and paint it. The back wasn't actually that hard either. You have to take the trunk lid lining (can't spell) out and remove the entire lock assembly, then tape off what you don't want painted (the rubber ring for example). If you do this first thing in the morning on a weekend like I did, you can put it back on your car by night time. You won't be able to drive your car because the trunk has no way of connecting to the latch without the lock mechanism in place, unless of course you use a tie-strap.

                          Hope this info helps,
