Just finally catching up on my reading... seems like the wee little neon is getting into the game! 215hp and 245ft/lb? Thats going to be messy 2880 pounds. I fear we will no longer "own" the road like we have. True it still looks like a a piece of crap IMO this thing should move. Anyone got any more info or raced one? are they even selling yet?

Well they are out in the US now, but will not be in Canada till the 2004 model year. It will be some performance competition, but I think of our cars as a great overall package and that is where the Neon is owned, plus I don't think they are cheap, and I think it would be hard to swallow paying 25-30k for a neon not matter how fast it is. I have not heard much since they have been out, but my previous neon experiences have been less then satisfactory. Perhaps when you get going fast the car will start to disintegrateBlair

Don't think they are available in Canada yet, but Car and Driver did a test on it:
0-60 in 5.6 seconds (although the dodge.ca puts it at 5.9)
0-100 in 13.8 seconds
1/4 mile: 14.2 @ 102 mph
Top speed: 153 MPH
Got to admit, it is pretty sweet numbers for a Neon.

I am kind of puzzled about that neon. Why go through the effort of producing a tire shredding front drive econo-box. It is a fast car, and will give us a pretty good working, but like Peter said, it will probably be expensive. At the end of the day, it's still a Neon.
Speaking of owning the streets, i've been thinking, after a brief run in with a charged S2000 this past summer, I've come to the conclusion that for the first 3 maybe 4 gears, we'll own a stock S2000, especially if you get the jump on them. I have no proof yet, but I have a strong feeling. Just imagine the puzzled looks when you tell people that you held off an S2000."I live my life a Quarter Pounder at a time. For those 10 seconds or less, I'm not hungry."

The new neons will be faster stock vs stock, BUT when chipped and full catback still a little slower. But its a dodge.
How do we compare to :
1) 2003 GTS Celica's... 2002 sucked.
2) 1999+ Preludes
3) Integra GSR / TYPE R

It may be dodge, but, intake, exhaust, and (depending on what kind of engine management)boost, they're rockin in the 13's over 100mph easy. It looks like they used the engine from the old early 90's iroc daytona, that means a brass bleeder valve for $15 and they're running 18 pounds of boost, or where ever the computer kills the fuel.

Celica GTS: I think we'll take them. it'll probably come down to who get's the jump.
Prelude and GSR: Not a problem
All-Hype-R: Stock vs. Stock I think they are a bit faster."I live my life a Quarter Pounder at a time. For those 10 seconds or less, I'm not hungry."
