I think this question would take on more importance if we knew what kind of car needed work. I dont think that taking a Rabbit to any mechanic for work should be trouble??

Yeah, I remember when I first got my 1986 Golf (in 2000) and I tried to get a 'shady tree' type to tune it up. I had no money!!! In fact I bought the car with my student loan (best $750 I ever spent)! He took one look at the fuel distributor and said 'sorry kid' . . . and that's the story of how i learned my way around CIS
