    Re: What to do???

Was he driving a diesel? Must have been, 'cause that dude is blowing a lot of smoke.

I deal with cops a lot (99.999% of the time it's not because I'm breaking any laws) and I've seen and been on the receiving end of police intimidation too many times to count.

If I were you - and I'm not, so do your own thing - I'd let him come to me. He probably won't even contact you. If he does, I wouldn't go anywhere near a police station without legal representation. It doesn't matter if you retain a $100/hour lawyer or a $1000/hour lawyer - it's your right and you don't have to worry about what questions you should or shouldn't answer if you have counsel.

Police rely on coercive tactics to do their job because they have to - bottom line. You wouldn't stop at an intersection at 3:00AM if you weren't afraid of getting a ticket and your buddy wouldn't have given that guy the time of day if he wasn't a bit scared that he was for real. My personal opinion is that if the cop truly wanted to charge you and your friend, he'd have held you there and called a cruiser to the scene to make it official.

BTW, how old are you guys? Young dudes in nice cars are easy targets, agree? Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions if you do hear from him. Good luck!

      Re: What to do???

I don't mean to marginalize anything here, but I wouldn't sweat about it too much. Whether you decide to go speak to him or not, it is of your own perogative, do what you feel comfortable with. If you don't go, there is a pretty good chance he may do nothing at all, or worst case scenario isn't that you are taken away in cuffs, but a warrant is issued against you (which again, isn't terrible, people get warrants issued for not paying a C-train ticket and there is something like 200,000 warrants outstanding every day and the majority are minor offences where they only act on it if you are pulled over again or walk into a station).
Moreover, keep in mind, stunting is not covered under the Criminal Code, it is a violation of the Traffic Safety Act. It is defined as to "drive a vehicle so as to perform or engage in any stunt or other activity on a highway that is likely to distract, startle or interfere with other users of the highway;" (Section 115 (2)f of the Traffic Safety Act). Worst case scenario, if you or your buddy gets nailed with the ticket, its a $402 min. penalty and 3 demerits. *IF* you get a ticket, I woudln't worry about hiring a lawyer or anyone from POINTS b/c you'll pay almost as much to them as you would for the ticket. When I got mine (and I was doing something A LOT worse than what you guys were), I went in and spoke to a Screening Crown Prosecutor whose job is to make deals with people like you and me before the court date to save taxpayer money. He was very considerate and not intimidating, I told him the situation and he offered to reduce the penalty from stunting to failing to remain in the centre of the lane, after i told him I could not afford demerits, he just told me to pay the $402, no demerits, and gave me an extra 6 months to pay it.
At the end of the day, go or no go, its up to you. If dont want to live with wondering if he'll come after you in a few days, go and talk to him (which I think would take a lot of guts and whether he likes you or not, he'd probably have at least a small degree of consideration for). If he is going to get you for stunting, he probably can if he wants to whether you go or not because he probably got plate #'s. But just do what you feel most confident with just remember, wrost case scenario you get a stunting ticket, but that is not a criminal offence and that can be taken care of as well like I said.
Hope this helps and sorry for the long post.

      Cheers.

ps-if you want to have a look, this is the Traffic Safety Act; http://www.qp.gov.ab.ca/documents/Ac...sbn=0779729714

        Re: What to do???

Very true. Ya I understand your case audi how he would be more pissed if he had to hunt me down. But he is a DETECTIVE, so doesnt he have something better to do than try to ticket 2 teens for "stunting" like solving some important case?!?! guess not...

But how can he write me and my friend a ticket for something that happened in the past?? Thats like if an off duty officer saw u speeding one day and like a week later he sees u and pulls u over and say, well I saw u speeding last week heres a 300$ ticket??

So I am thinking to let him come find us? But talking to him can't hurt i guess... except that ya like people said he will be on duty and if we agree to ne thing he says thats like giving him a confesion isnt it??

Ya so true ladubdude I agree with all of your point 100%. I am 18 and my friend is 19 but both azn if that has ne thing to do with anything, but I think that it does cause my friend said he took awhile to pull out a badge he looked at him for a while and then once he saw him suddenly pulled it out but he was hesitant. Mr. Bright side I see where your going with this but I could care less about this cop and what he does and if he comes after me then thats his waste of time or whatever, for sure if he does he will be hearing from our lawyers or we will have one pressent in court/meeting with him.

Thanks for the support i'll keep you guys posted!
