  • What to do???

Hey guys earlier tonight me and my friend were going 40 up 17th ave SW by westside (if ne one knows where that is) cause me and my friend saw each other driving so we started to talk for a bit out our windows. Then like I sped up and drove home and my friend sped up a bit aswell. Then an OFF DUTY un uniformed police told my friend at the next lights to pull over.

My friend was hesitant but did pull over and the cop told him he better have lots of money for stunting and he said for my friend to bring me and come down to his office this tuesday. I dunno y or what he can do?? we didnt mean to hold up ne one (like 2 people and we sped up after like 5mins when one flashed his lights at me)

So what should I do just say he has no proof?? And what can he possibly do?

I agree, there isn't a whole lot that he can do. But did it look as though he had taken down notes or plate #'s or anything like that? If that is the case, it may be cause for a little concern b/c when I received my stunting ticket, I learned that all the proof they really need is the officer's notes...

Anyways, as the proud recipient of one stunting ticket already, I'll be happy to help if it comes to that (Hoping it won't). Just b/c getting a ticket doesn't mean that you have to get demerits or pay the whole thing...

        Keep us posted...

I wouldn't go anywhere near him. If he wants to play it out let him come find you.

If you go see him he will then be on-duty and will ask you questions, if you confirm these questions regarding your activities then you have just given him a confession.

You may just get a talking to, but it sounds like buddy is a bit of a power hungry dick.

If you do not go then he has to come get you, he will need to formally arrest you (which he can not do for anything less than dangerous driving and undue care and attention, I believe) and then hope his after the fact arrest holds up at court. The judge and/or crown would likely find it to be under BS circumstances, toss it out and give the cop a tongue lashing.

I have a number of friends who got summoned for street racing based on a 3rd party account of the situation. It was tossed right out.

go tell him to suck your ....

talking to somebody on the street is not stunting..

similar thing happened to a person on here a few weeks ago they were on deerfoot and an off duty cop said they were going 'way to fast' and wrote their plate down.. found their info and phoned them.. they can't do jack to you..

                Re: What to do???

Playing your stereo too loud, squealing your tires - anything that distracts other drivers can be considered stunting. So yes, talking out your window to another driver would be as well.

But yah, I'd let him come find you - if he does, don't be an ass though.

Ok, thanks for the support guys, I think he told my friend he got my plate so i dunno. But ya he is jelous he doesnt have a dub hehe. He was VERY rude to my friend my friend called me when the cop tried talking to him and I heard the whole Convo. and he was like going off calling us idiots and everything.

So even if he has my license plate and my friends still just let him come for us? Or just talk to him? "Ya like you said if I got in then he will be on duty and might get a confession out of us.

I would just let him come, and if he does be like sorry I have been busy. He could very well get you if you were doing something wrong, I do not know exactly how the law works on that.

                          Re: What to do???

From my personal experience, it can't hurt to do what he says. I got let off in court because of a paperwork screw up, but the cop still had the right to charge me if I had displayed an "attitude problem" according to him. If the guy can't charge you when he is off duty, why not go see him? I personally wouldnt want to piss any cop off, why not show you are mature and resposible and go talk to him. Explain your story and hope he is in a better mood. If he is going to give you a ticket, it will likely be bigger if he has to hunt you down.
If I were the cop, you actually showing up to talk to me would give me a better impression of you...plus I would be pissed if I had to search for you....

I would basically just let him get a hold of you, and if he asks you why you didn't come, just say that he should have issued you a ticket if he believes you had broken the law.

Think about this - if he does issue you a ticket in like a week or two, and you go to court - how well can he remember the incident if he wrote the ticket two weeks later? I am certain a judge would consider that, in a case where he has no proof and its his word against yours and your friend's...
