  • check engine light but no ODB II code

Ok, my check engine light came on today. I put a scanner on it and it said no info. I tried two different scanners. Both had no info.

Any ideas on what may be causing this?

    Thanks for your help

What scanner did you use? VW uses a propritary format for alot of info that can't be read by normal OBDII readers.

I will check the gas cap and if it doesn't go off in a few days I guess I will have to take it to the dealership.

            Thanks for the help

yeh if the light is on there is a code stored in there somewhere.

They will charge 70+ bucks for the scan. Several of us have the vw tools on our laptops if you're in Calgary.

I went out and took off the gas cap and then put it back on. Drove it and the light was on, went in somewhere and came back and it was off.
So I think I am ok for now.

Thanks for the help and ideas
