I've thought about it and there is not enough depth to the gove box to make it work, even with taking the aluminum off.

        Re: My Custom Phatty Install

Just stuffed mine into the Jetta last night. The CD changer mount had to be modified to accomodate the bracket to the Phatnoise (specifically, the screws didn't allow it to fit). Anyhoo, here are some pics, even though this is pretty trivial compared to a golf install

Man is this thing ever cool!

How did you modify it to fit? I had problems aswell. I ground the two top screws down.

It's an MP3 hard drive for your car. Essentially an iPod that you install and leave in there. Check it out.

They just dropped in price, and they are indeed awesome.

PhatBoxed so it talks to me. Yes, I call it K.I.T.T.

If I could elaborate a little further.... the nicest part about the PhatBox is that it allows you to retain your stock headunit.

I didn't like the idea of grinding down the mounting screws, so I went ballistic and ripped out the CD changer mount. I grinded out some big grooves in it, so the screws on the brackets wouldn't rub it. Not that I'll ever need to take it out, but it slides in and out very nicely now.

..plus I had to dremel the plastic cover, because the phatbox is just a tad bigger than the cd changer...

I trimmed the plastic cover aswell, how would they install this if you went to the dealer?

They would just leave the plastic part off (as I did)
