I assume you mean aftermarket amps AND speakers? You should not connect an aftermarket amp to the stock speakers.
However, connecting aftermarket amps/speakers to the stock headunit probably won't sound that much better, since the stock headunits kind of suck.KR

Re: Question
Ok if monsoon system leave that in place and use another amp for a sub easy to do. If none monsoon you can add an amp to the stock deck and run a sub or the main speakers but really there will be little gain in doing that. I installed a new deck in the wifes car and it made a world of difference just with the stock speakers.Name: Brent

Re: Question About Stereos??
So I'm to lazy to think up creative titles, sue me
I'm mostly thinking that I want to add a sub to my stereo system but I have a phatbox that I don't feel like not being able to use and I don't like the look of aftermarket decks.. that stock look is nice.2007 BMW 328XI

Re: Question About Stereos??
i have done this in my jetta and it worked fine. my only advise is DO NOT cheap out on the high to low convertor. you will be sorry if you do. with that said i bought a good one and mine sounds awsome.
p.s. make sure the converter is adjustable, because mine sounded like sh*t before adjusted it....
