Are diverter valves and blow off valves the same thing? If not whats the diff. And also where can I get some blow off valves for a good price?

no BOV on 1.8t is bad.. you need a DV and really you don't even need one depending on the year of your car 03+ comes stock with a 710n aka 225 audi TT DV which holds boost fine i have yet o see mine fail.. hell even the apr stage 3 uses this DV

but if you must get a new one forge or hyperboost are good ones.. search the vortex 1.8T forums once in a while and you'll find a shizload of info.

Ok thanks for the help, but would a new diverter valve make the swoooosh noise when shifting?

          Re: Noobie question: BOV

Basically if you run a BOV you will have problems because of all the air sensors VW uses being confused by the "leaking" air. You can fool the sensors and make it work, but its not worth it.

You can run a DV which is like a BOV except the air goes back into the intake rather than being vented into the atmosphere.

It will make a "Swoosh" sound if you have a cold air intake, preferably a long, metal one. The sound of the DV opening echoes inside the pipe and gets amplified.

The swoosh noise is it almost the same as the BOV when shifting?

              And is it pretty loud?

                Re: Noobie question: BOV

Yeah, and you can reverse the orientation of the DV to make it sound louder, more of a chirp than a whoosh. Its not exactly the same as a BOV but people will hear it when you drive past!

If you want, ask at the next meet in about 2 weeks and someone can show you what it sounds like... I can even reverse mine in the parking lot if you REALLY want a demo.
