  • Buying new jetta??'s

Hi ive been trying to decide on new or slightly used jetta and just have some questions about buying new from the dealers here in Calgary

Which dealer is best? or are they all the same to deal with?
2005 Jetta TDI with everything except leather MSRP for 29,600 and the lowest they offered me was 28,500 so should i say to them less like take 28,000(around) take it or leave it?
It would be 2.9% if i bought new through VW or if I bought used my loan is at 5.6%.
I was thinking of faxing a offer to purchase at a certain price to the different dealers and the fastest dealer to respond taking my price ill buy from? that a good idea? if i did that how could i figure out a price to say?
    Thx for the help

    Hi Dayle,

I would say, definitely go to ALL THREE dealerships and get the best price. You should say you have MUCH less to spend than the stickered price of the car, and then try to work out a compromise... then take each offer to the competitor dealerships and try to get a better offer. Remember $500 from almost $30,000 is nothing, not even 2%. Remember also that the dealership is in the business of making money and the salespeople are in the business of selling cars, not making friends or making long term customer relationships.

All the dealerships are the same to deal with in my experience. You could also check online, or with dealerships outside the city! Call Edmonton/Red Deer for example. I hear there is a VW dealership in Medicine Hat...

Finally, you could see if anyone on here can help you.

Hey Dayle, I work at Fifth Ave. I can do better than 28500, call me and we can discuss your best price. 273-2500 or 612-9594

      Thanks

Ok thx Adam....I wasnt a big fan of the dude i was talking to last time at 5th Ave so hopefully your one of the few sales people that i dont feel like flipping out on after a few mins with them.

What would you guys think about a used 05 i found with 7000km loaded except leather for $28500. I would need to use my bank and my rates are at 5.6% compared to 2.9% through VW. So id save the taxes basically but have a higher interest rate....hmmm..so many decisions.

          Thx for any help

Are you looking for a manual or a tiptronic? because at 28500 with no tax thats pretty good money for an 05.

            1440 lux pkg
            1195 leather

            595 Freight
            690 PDI

            Total 30880 + tax + interest = I couldnt match that deal.

I was quoted 29.500 on an 04 PD (no leather/sunroof) last year when the PD's just came out..That still seems high considering its a new model year!
