I would question the efficiency at that thickness to dissipate heat well enough.....

As long as the air moves through it, it should dissipate heat fairly well. There is not a lot more air restriction based on increased thickness. Sure, the front will see the most cold air, but it should still be very good, and definitely better than being any thinner.

But you would agree that at a point there is a negative impact on cooling.....I guess as long as there is adequate air flow going through it, as would be with a front mount no restrictions on flow are present, on a side mount, I just don't think it would get as much, that may be where the side mount being too thick could suck....

geez...that thing would be rubbing on the wheel well!!! Flow == 0. Definitely need a vent, or a big gaping hole!

The flow is not that restricted guys, you can see right through an intercooler, its just a bunch of fins between the plates/tubes.

That one does not rub supposedly.

interesting fact i think my intercooler gets less air with my pzwo.. the side spots are quite small compared to stock oh well

Intercooler design is like complex science. Bigger is not always better.

Anyways, that unit is a piece of art.
