Yes, I read it in today's paper...

2007 Mini will be offered in a TURBO 1.6L and much faster than the current S. I am sure that it will also be much easier to tune it up even more!

170+ hp stock.

I guess the current Cooper S is about 170hp so that is a very conservative estimate... on a 1.6L engine the turbo will doubtless be pretty tiny, you could put a K03 on there as an upgrade

I always assume that if one had the money and the need, the John Cooper Works kit would pretty much do everything ya need for over 200hp, and under warranty, reliable power, without a factory turbo. I'm surprised they're even looking at this.

Maybe they want to get the price under 45 grand

I think Mercedes is the company that was doing the big change from SCs to turbos as BMW really does not use either but I would be interested to see what the Mini Turbo would be like I just wish the price was a bit lower.
