I;m wondering if I remove my cat and muffler from my 04 tdi exhaust system will it void my warranty? If not could it cause problems for me? The o2 sensor is before the cat so it shouldn't cause an engine light. Will it give me any ponies?

Re: Will this void my warranty?
There is no gain on HP or torque by doing that. Moreover, you might have a difficult time whenever you need to do something within the warranty period. Ex. Emission workshop
Go nuts and search tdiclub.com
I suggest a chip and some expensive Karma injectors.
Still not satisfy?
Get a faster ride then.

ANYways, I believe you notice some sort of preformance gain out of running no cat etc.. on a diesel but I think its no different than the effect of throwing a 3inc all the way from the cat back...Like B5 said, check around on TDIclubREAL men use harsh language as self-defense

Re: Will this void my warranty?
It all comes down to fuel and air... exhaust being primarily an air mod. TDis need to be thought about as an entirely different animal than gas engines...very very simply put in the diesels case; fuel makes you faster, air stops you smoking. This is to a point where you are smoking a fair amount and the extra air will help you. Surely it MUST help your inner voice is saying, well barts extra 4-6psi has only made him marginally faster however, he now can add extra fuel which will make him a lot faster! An exhaust will give you more efficiency on your turbo and make it blow less hot air, spool up quicker etc. but the boost control system is very much more a closed loop system on a TDI than the 1.8T so you will not see a corresponding increase in psi. In short, it may help reduce smoke, weight, egts, spool time. It won't give you more power.
