  • All My Chipped Brothers -- Question For You All!!

You should be fine if you get an aftermarket DV or BOV. Upsolutse has always 'surged', I think it has something to do w/ the N75 and the stock DV. It just can't control the boost fast enough. I've had both good experinces with Forge and HKS respectivly. That's my recommendation.

My current setup is just the HKS BOV (From ECSTuning.com) running in normal BOV mode direclty from the intercooler pipe after the turbo but before the intercooler.

I think I have several pictures in the following directory.

No, you have to have a flange welded onto it if you buy it from a store, otherwise pick it up from ECSTuning.com, it comes pre welded and fits on in about 35 seconds

Footose, any issues with the car running rich or throwing codes after awhile with that set up? what about mileage? notice any difference? I'm gonna do this in the spring, just got to have that sound.

Also, have you heard the Blitz super on our cars? I was wondering what they sound like, or even the Greddy units for all that matter.

I can't comment on the other types of BOV's because I haven't tried them, nor read about them so I'm not sure.

As for the HKS, it does run rich inbetween shifts, and sometimes @ startup. However, my car has always run rich so it could be from something else. However, I know the other people that have this HKS (ECS) BOV also run rich between shifts, but let me tell you. it is 100% worth it! The looks you will get from this thing is incredible.

            Peter,
When did you get chipped? Congrats. If you read my post today, I installed the C N75 valve and my surging went away. I'm not sure if this would be the case if you are boosting more than 1 bar. How much more boost are you pushing? Again, like I said in my previous post, getting a C version N75 in next to impossible here in Calgary. I think I grabbed the last one from Fifth Ave. Northland did not have any. You might want to try the H valve but it has other issues. Hope everything works out for you. Can't wait to see the car someday.

Not disbelieving man. Just was wondering. Did you get a customized program? Did you go through Simon?

I had my car boosted to 21psi on 110 octane gas b4... no surging. Because I have a Forge DV. As for a bov, my fried in Edmonton is selling his HKS bov from his GTi because he totalled his car :( send me a email or leave me msg if you are interested. [Mr. Drink] [Mr. Drink] [HAHA]

btw, his BOV kit is from ECS tuning... I think he also have a Forge DV for sale too.

Footose: do you have to disconnect your MAF to run the HKS?? My friend did not have the problem of teh Limp mode but when I borrow it my ECU jump me right into teh limp mode and I have to disconnect the MAF. But when I had the HKS it sounded really friggin NICE.

                    Peter,
It seems like an aftermarket DV might fix the surging as well. I am not too familiar with this fix. But it looks like it has worked for 2 members here. I would change either the DV or the N75 but not do both at once. That way you can tell for sure what solved your problem for you. Maybe it is how the DV reacts to the N75 that is the real solution. Hope your surging goes away soon.

question: why are you running a BOV ?? you will run very rich no? it was mentioned, ,did you disconnect your MAF ? I bought a Forge 007 BY-PASS or DV whatever you want to call it, and id recomend it much more than a BOV, if you want to nice turbo noice, get and intake

DV/bypass is probably the best way to run these cars, however, I am obsessed with the blow-off sound. I have not had too many problems running the stock DV to atmostphere, however, I change it back quite frequently. when I feel the need to the BOV sound, I vent it till I get tired of the sound.

Hopefully in a few weeks, I just need to finish the flange.
