Somewhere - probably in a rubber room located in Germany - an automotive design engineer is:
a) laughing maniacally
b) sobbing uncontrollably because a bean counter decided to make the car 2cm shorter and not revise his headlight design (y'know . . . to save VWAG $$$ and alienate and anger at least one loyal customer - GRRRRRR!!!!)
c) whispering something about battery clearance and not touching the bulbs . . . "Don't touch the bulbs . . . oh precious . . . the battery is too close . . . too close . . . hands too big . . . battery too close . . . "
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Let's see," the Jetta driver said to himself at 2:00pm. "If my shift starts at 3:15pm, that gives me about 30 minutes to do nothing, 15 minutes to shave, s--t, and shower (not necessarily in that order), 15 minutes to put in my SilverStars, and 15 minutes to take a nice rip around town in the daylight with my nice new beams."
I took one look at the driver's side and didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I know that it can be done, but if i have to work that hard, I'll take everything apart, change ALL the bulbs at once, clean everything I can, have a few beers and call it a productive afternoon - tomorrow. Maybe it won't look like such a PITA in better light out of the parkade, right?
