Ok ok I will pipe in now since I know that is what you want . First off in my opinion with monsoon it is all or nothing, unless you just want to add some bass where another amp and a sub will do fine, like what Jeff (silverstoned) installed in his car. The monsoon amp is a 8 channel amp with built in crossovers for every channel ie virtually useless for anything but the stock speakers, plus it is low in power. Second the stock speakers all have weird impeadances, you could drive them with an aftermarket amp with built in crossovers but I don't see the speakers lasting long. Ohh and yes Simon Focal rocks my boat but they would also rock my pocketbook :( allthough they are the BEST speaker for the money in my opinion. You can leave the stock head unit if you want aftermarket amps and speakers but you will loose a little qualtity in sound and really for the money you can buy a cheap deck that will play MP3's.
Ohh and my sub box would be up for sale if anyone where ever to offer me cash for it ... I have a itching for 3 new JL 10W1v2's ! Ohh and I still have some JL12W1's kicking around

Even if you drive the monsoon speakers through the monsoon amp, but drive the amp through an aftermarket headunit, the speakers don't sound quite right. Which is what I am doing now. It sounds "okay" but really gotta gut the monsoon to make it sound great.
yea.. personally i love all the aftermarket decks i've owned buy damn i always miss my OEM look i used to have.. if it was easier to remove the stereo i'd put the stock one in once a week just to feel peachy
I'm running the Clarion touchscreen as my deck w/ alpine components all around and it sounds beautiful. nothing is left stock and it goes loud and crisp.
I used to have stock everything and had to have the stereo full blast just to get some good tunes giogn with the windows down. Now its loud enough at all times
Alpine does make a cheap compent speaker that sounds pretty good. You should see what soundsaround did to install Bart's rear speakers LOL I will post a pic soon but if you saw it you would go back and kill everyone there (or atleast I would). Kris I believe the stock monsoon unit also comensates for certain caracteristics of the monsoon amp, speakers and the cars interior. That is more then likely why it sounds a little off.

If I were to go aftermarket, I would buy an Alpine with the Ipod interface...no need to have MP3 capeable reading anymore...and then whatever for subs/amp (I already have..)
