i borowed my moms red jetta lastnite and tried doing a 2nd gear peelout (the stupid 1 gear is too short on these tdis) but i think something broke in the tranny, so now its at scfc getting fixed. i thought these cars were stronger, i guess not...

btw i have a chip, i hope they dont find it!

Sorry to hear that. My 00 TDI on average breaks down once a month.

You are right they are just bad quality car.

That's funny - regarding your last point... there are service techs from SCFC on this site. You just told them you have a chip. That's why you shouldn't treat your mom's TDI like a POC.

First off if it is a 04 TDI it is NOT chipped. Second off what the hell wher you thinking doing a 2nd gear burnout? 1st gear was made for a reason. My guess is you just burn out some of the life of the clutch and blew a code in the computer hopefully no more damage then that or you may have a lot of answering to your mother. Ohh and Ambros if your car is breaking down once a month you are either not fixing the initial problem or are not maintaining it. I have had zero problems with both of my cars and both have way more milage then most their age. A TDI engine is very strong if treated right and regular maintance done. Hell there are even guys in the states with 300,000 MILEs already and no problems...

I don’t understand why my 00 Jetta TDI is giving me such horror experiences. I maintenance the car according to the schedule, even I did more than it requires. However, things that broke were not I consider as a maintenance item. Let me just name some problems. My Jetta had three airbag igniters replaced, one upper airbag harness, two lower airbag harness, one airbag, OEM 15” BadYear LS tires centre lane prematurely wear out, one instrument cluster, one speed sensor, three Mass Air Flow sensors, trunk hydraulic shocks leak oil, glove box snap into two while in the SFC servicing the car, the automatic transmission acting weird(SFC suggest to get a fluid/transmission filter change to reset the shzzzzz inside), water pump, timing belt, tensioner, and car can only get 450km per tank since new.

Now how does it that sound to you??????????????????? Car has only driven 48,9XX KM up to date.

I bought the car brand spanking new from SFC in May of 2000.

I am not newbie on diesel cars when I come to the ownership on this Jetta. I always have a diesel car in my family. Before the Jetta I already have a B4 Passat TDI I still have the car now. I enjoy that B4 so much and is still perform rock solid without the problems listed like the above for my Jetta. And before the B4 TDI I had an A2 Jetta TD and before that in Asia I had MB 300 SD TD.

Somehow my Jetta got high fuel consumption. SFC said they don’t know what’s wrong and do not know HOW to fix the problem. They blame VW not release the info/remedies and the problem is not only me but also other owners with auto. I don’t buy their BS. VW will not do anything.

Anyway, my story on the water pump, timing belt and tensioner repaired by SFC were even funnier. The reason for this repairing was my water pump getting noisy. At 42,000 km my water pump started to cry. Things begin after the new parts were in. After I did my payment at SFC I drove off from there. That bill was something huge. Once I turn off to 58 St to Mc Trial south then I floor the gas paddle. Then what?...... I heard fuuuuzzzzzzz,,,, Kaaaaa… Booommmm….. WTF coolant was leaking all the way behind me. I pulled into Chinook open the hood found coolant was coming from the timing belt area. Pulled back into SFC ask my mechanic WTF was going on then he open the belt cover told me the brand NEW water pump blew up. Come on how can a brand new VW parts died that early( less than one kilometer ). Explain to me? Mechanic told me that happen at regular bases. That’s pretty cool, which makes me feel like in Vegas on the parts I put in every time.

Quality VW built cars. How will I ever trust VW brand again?

Can I ask who wants to buy my Jetta to inherit the problems? After this no one will. LOL.
