  • Tunning A TDI

Ive got a 2004 TDI sport that so far Ive only changed the muffler on because I hate the look of the stock one but I would like to hear of any mods that people know of for Diesel's not to sure if I want to chip it. Has any one ever seen a TDI with propane injection. Also I want to get the Zender body kit but dont like the idea of getting it done by Concept one to have to get it painted somewheres else, any suggestions?

Theres a couple pics in here so far but hopefully it it will be looking a whole lot different for summer!!

      Re: Tunning A TDI

Most tuning companies Stage I are usually just a chip, Stage II would be a chip, larger injectors, usually something to control boost, and sometimes some mechanical mods (ie. larger intercooler). Stage III is often bigger turbo, etc. in addition to the above. Most seem to agree on TDIclub and elsewhere that CAI and exhaust are nice to look at, but do little in terms of performance.

Talk to Boyracer, the local Upsolute rep. He'll hook you up, nice guy, good support, local and decent prices. Chip is the logical first step with some definite gains all-around.

Haven't heard of anyone trying propane or anything, seems like for the cost, trouble, and risk of being a guinea pig you could buy and install at least a Stage III with all the extras.

        Thanks for the plug

I am getting my equipment to do the new TDis soon, It should be sent from the states next week. I have a lot of people waiting for the PDs, for good reason, the gains are expected to be really good. With this equipment I will also be able to chip the Mk5 engines and Smart Car diesels (if there was every a car that was born to be chipped it is a 40hp turbo diesel)

Simon above is the #1 TDI tuner in Calgary, you should see his TDI its pretty well modded! The chip is defintely worth it on the TDI, you should drive a chipped car and see!

              Re: Tunning A TDI

Bart has the most modded TDI engine wise, Simon has the most body wise and I have the most interior wise. If we where to combine all our TDI's into one SUPERMEGATDI we would rule the world.

Defintly need to post the gains and how much this will cost, also for us still under warranties, how detectible this to the dealers.

                          Re: Tunning A TDI

The figures are 35hp and 50 ft/lbs gain on the 100hp engine and for the 140hp TDi, 35hp and 55 ft/lbs gain.

The Price is $525 + GST

Warranty is always a concern for people on a chip. Not sure why this question never gets asked of suspension, cold air intake, exhaust etc. as they all will also affect warranty and some are much harder to 'reverse' than a chip. As far as detecting and the dealer, I have never had anyone reporting of denial to warranty based on an Upsolute chip. This may be because no one has broken anything because of a chip... or it may be because we know how to take care of our customers. Open forums are not the best place for that discussion.

We carry a full line of tuning modules for all TDI Generation Diesel Engines. The PD modules are external modifications which are easily installed and or removed. We have been seeing iprovements in Horsepower and Torque by as much as 50% at the wheels. Below is the dyno test which was performed on my 2005 Jetta PD TDI with no other modifications. We will be in Calgary next week doing testing, demonstrations and installs. We will be doing G-Tech testing of before and after and my car will be available for a test drive.[IMG][/IMG]
