AGH! I got hit on my way to work today by another jetta driver who didn't think to shoulder check before changing lanes right into me, denting my rear passenger side fender. Then he has the audacity to blame me because "he was signalling" as though I have eyes in the back of my head. Oh well, fortunately it's pretty obvious that the fault was his considering his front bumper is cracked and it's my rear quarterpanel that's damaged. &^%^$$#!! *fingers crossed*

he was signalling? so his right eh? BUAAHAH, you should have ***** slapped him. dont forget to go to your local family doctor and get a note saying you have major neck injuries, that'll teach him

btw, shoulder checking is a stupid north american thing, i hate it when people do that, thats the reason mirrors are on cars.

Yah if your mirrors are set right you barely need to move your head.

Though if your rear and his front is damaged, that means you were in front of him. He could say it was you who didn't check and turned into him, so be careful.

Yeah by shoulder checking I mean making any effort to actually look where you're going, whether it's just checking mirrors or whatever. There is no excuse for him hitting me. I didn't call the police because the damage didn't look too bad but looking back I probably should have. Regardless, hopefully the damage will tell the true story. I so didn't need this stress right now.

Sorry to hear that dude, there are some shi**y drivers on the roads. I had some lady come into my lane on deerfoot the other day, didnt even notice, I luckily saw her and moved into the shoulder, busted by her and gave her a much deserved bird-out-the-sunroof....what ever happened to stayin alert while driving?!

Id consider going to the cops and saying this guy is trying to screw you. Did you not have any witnesses? If thats the case, I wish you the best of luck but you might end up in small claims court

so you were speeding? or the other guy was driving a lot slower than the posted speed.

I've found that the first reaction of a person who is having a vehicle change lanes it to their lane is to speed up and make sure the other person cannot change lanes.

from your description of the accident you must have been driving considerably faster than the person that hit you.

Just drawing some conclusions, administrator you may remove this post if it seems like a personal attack or something offensive.

the damage is over $1000 for sure on just your car, hopefully you have got a police report done already.

Do a police report ASAP otherwise you are going to get boned. Draw a diagram with your speed etc and have them get his side otherwise you are going to be demeaded 50% at fault.

That sucks, Yuval! So sorry to hear that.

You should definitely head down to the police station and file a report. And when you write it out, make a note of how you were already ahead of him and that while he claims you should have seen him signal, you were AHEAD of him - unless he's blind, there's no way he could have not seen you!
