  • NEED HELP: ATTN BART, RYAN, Steering wheel advice

There, now that I have your attention, I need to know what you guys did with the horn wires when you installed your wheels....Bart, I know yours had the same 4 spoke plastic wheel, so this may be more relevant to you, there was the airbag connector plug at the steering column with 4 wires coming out, 2 to the airbag connector, and 2 for the horn (1 connecting the the outside face of the inner steering wheel, and another connecting just underneath it on a thinner piece of metal......) 1 has a regular spade connector on it, and the other has a 90 degree spade connector on it....here's my dilemna, I only have 1 connector on my 3 spoke wheel for the horn, what did you guys do???
    thanks...

I know how to disassemble a mk4 steering wheel, but I don't know what you mean.

umm mine was plug and play... there was the 90 degree yellow connector for the airbag, and thats it, i think another bigger 4 plug on the end, the horn i didnt touch, because i think that goes to the metal springs... there was no modding of any kind to make it work if thats what you're asking...

wow, that was fast....anyhow, I looked it up on the vortex, but have no good answers, other people have come across this, they are the grounding wires for the horn, I've done what a few other people have, and the horn doesn't work when pressing the wheel....I'll leave it for now, but there has to be some sort of answer.....its tough to work with cause you can take off the airbag, but can't test it unless you put it all back together again and reconnect the battery every time, very time consuming and labour intensive......anyhow, no ABS or airbag lights so thats fine, just this damn horn problem....

I first read a couple line and though "why the hell would his rims have wires?" I think you are a can bus victom. I still have to take a closer look to see if I can figure out what needs to go where, if you have the bently manual for your car I might be able to figure it out.

No bentley manual, I'll take any advice I can get.....anyhow, the 2 wires appear to connect anyhow when they are plugged into the 4 spoker....unless I try touching the two and having the horn go off, I'm 100% they are not associated with the Airbags

take some photos alex..cuz i thought i was gonna have issues with mine and it seriously was straight up plug and play.. although on my car the horn is actually controlled by the can-bus not grounding wires so with my r32 it doesn't work lol
